The Power of Perspective
The Power of Perspective:
Having a set target towards a goal can have a negative impact on seeing the wider picture and limiting success.
NAF, is the ‘Need to Avoid Failure’, but it can be very misleading. Having a NAF mindset can actually limit an individual’s potential and it can cause greater emotional stress.
NACH, otherwise known as the ‘Need to Achieve’, is the mindset and desire for significant success, whilst also having undergone moments of disappointment and failure. In this we see that these moments of failure can drive and motivate the future success of individuals.
An example of this was when Formula One driver, Niki Lauda, in 1976, crashed his car that subsequently went up in flames. He suffered major injuries and severe burns, but he was back in his car six weeks later bandaged and petrified. He won two World Championships after this moment. He could have easily adopted a NAF mindset and never achieved the success that he did, and most likely never would have raced again.
The power of perspective is crucial to success, and in finance the principal is still key. In moments of doubt amidst failure, remember the targets that you had set for your plan and the reason for your financial journey. Don’t let the fear of failure limit your lifestyle in any aspect.
